Austin

Luncheon Meetings: County Line on the Hill Restaurant, 6500 Bee Caves Road, 1st Thursday, starts at 11:30 a.m. with speaker and lunch beginning at 12:00 noon.

Dallas  

Luncheon Meetings: Dallas Petroleum Club, 2200 Ross Ave., 3rd Tuesday, 11:30 A.M.

Luncheon Cost: Members paid in advance by annual fees. All guests must pay $30. The Dallas Chapter welcomes potential new members by paying for their meal - membership forms will be available.

Announced Meeting: June 11, 2013. "Seismic Prospecting Tools: Seismic Data and Rock Physics in the Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas" by Kevin B. Hill, president of Hill Geophysical Consulting (HGC).

Kevin will discuss innovative prospecting tools using 2D and 3D seismic. Modern technology now allows the geoscientist to predict the type of rocks and fluids prior to drilling. Kevin’s talk will show examples of post-stack seismic inversion where seismic traces are tuned into well logs. Pre-stack AVO attributes used to predict rock types and fluids will also be shown.

Kevin B. Hill is a geophysical consultant with more than 35 years of broad U.S. and international experience in seismic imaging. As president of Hill Geophysical Consulting in Shreveport, Louisiana, he specializes in integrating state-of-the-art geophysical technologies with geology. Hill was involved in the original design of the PC-based Kingdom seismic workstation. Hill received a BS Degree in Geology in 1977 from
Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, where he received the H.V. Howe award for outstanding Geology graduate. In 2001 he received the AAPG’s A.I. Levorsen Award for Best Paper. Prior to becoming a consultant in 1987, Kevin worked as Senior Exploration Geophysicist for Sonat Exploration in Shreveport, LA; Regional Exploration
Geophysicist for Forest Oil Corporation in Lafayette, LA, and Jackson MS; and as a Senior Geophysicist for Cities Service Company in Tulsa, OK, and Jackson, MS.
